Does Israel’s "Legitimate Security" Justify Everything? (Extract)

Translated Thursday 3 August 2006, by Henry Crapo, Peggy Cantave Fuyet

We, as part of the Collective "Trop, c’est trop!" created in December 2001 under the initiative of the historian Madelaine Rebérioux, cry out today: "Enough!"

Enough of this catastrophic war, enough of this horrible aggression against the Lebanese and Palestinians, all in the name of Israel, a paranoiac aggression that causes in return deadly shots aimed at Israeli civilians. Enough of this cynical behavior using the three soldiers as a pretext to settle accounts with the Hamas supporters and the Hezbollah members, who actually keep on reinforcing themselves by resisting Israel’s attacks.
Enough of this mad headlong rush toward a conflagration in which the United States ’’defends’’ Israel by throwing itself into a new war against Syria and Iran, with enormous consequences.

Enough of this senseless race into a dead end!

For the Collective "Trop, c’est trop!": Étienne Balibar, Suzanne Citron, Stéphane Hessel, Alain Joxe, Henri Korn, Jacques Maillot, Gilles Manceron, Marie-José Mondzain, Giuseppina Russo, Abraham Ségal, Annie Ségal, Pierre Vidal-Naquet.
